This is a very bitter-sweet memory for me.

31 Years ago, I became roommates with David Aronson. At the time, we both were aspiring, but scuffling, Rock Stars in Studio City, CA (Los Angeles).

Within 6 weeks of becoming roommates, we were celebrating that a song we had written for a movie co-starring Thomas Dolby, had been chosen as the film’s feature ballad.

This film has since become somewhat of a cult hit…a 1980’s Vampire/Comedy/Musical(!) called “Rockula”.

The movie wrapped close to Halloween in 1988 and of course, was a Hollywood costume affair.

Dave and I both went to the party as medical doctors and within weeks I had suffered a stage accident in Japan, falling 17 feet in an elevator concert stage accident, and in under two years, Dave tragically had died of Germ Cell Cancer, at only 31 years of age.

Dave was an extremely talented singer, songwriter and lyricist, but more importantly he was a really great guy and an even better friend. I miss him very much, and often wonder how many great songs he would have written, or we might have written together.

I humbly would like to dedicate this clip from the film in his memory. – Vinny Scrima
